Description:

Aluminum alloys (or aluminum alloys; see spelling differences) are alloys in which aluminum (Al) is the predominant metal. The typical alloying elements are copper, magnesium, manganese, silicon, tin and zinc.

There are two principal classifications, namely casting alloys and wrought alloys, both of which are further subdivided into the categories heat-treatable and non-heat-treatable. About 85% of aluminum is used for wrought products, for example rolled plate, foils and extrusions. Cast aluminum alloys yield cost-effective products due to the low melting point, although they generally have lower tensile strengths than wrought alloys.

The most important cast aluminum alloy system is Al–Si, where the high levels of silicon (4.0–13%) contribute to give good casting characteristics. Aluminum alloys are widely used in engineering structures and components where light weight or corrosion resistance is required.

Alloys composed mostly of aluminum have been very important in aerospace manufacturing since the introduction of metal-skinned aircraft. Aluminum-magnesium alloys are both lighter than other aluminum alloys and much less flammable than other alloys that contain a very high percentage of magnesium. Aluminum alloy surfaces will develop a white, protective layer of aluminum oxide if left unprotected by anodizing and/or correct painting procedures.

In a wet environment, galvanic corrosion can occur when an aluminum alloy is placed in electrical contact with other metals with more positive corrosion potentials than aluminum, and an electrolyte is present that allows ion exchange. Referred to as dissimilar-metal corrosion, this process can occur as exfoliation or as intergranular corrosion. Aluminum alloys can be improperly heat treated. This causes internal element separation, and the metal then corrodes from the inside out.

It is the third most abundant element in the earth's crust and the most abundant metallic element. Aluminum Bohr ModelAluminum's name is derived from alumina, the mineral from which Sir Humphrey Davy attempted to refine it from in 1812. It wasn't until 1825 that Aluminum was first isolated by Hans Christian Oersted. Aluminum is a silvery gray metal that possesses many desirable characteristics. It is light, nonmagnetic and non-sparking. It stands second among metals in the scale of malleability, and sixth in ductility.

It is extensively used in many industrial applications where a strong, light, easily constructed material is needed. Elemental AluminumAlthough it has only 60% of the electrical conductivity of copper, it is used in electrical transmission lines because of its light weight. Pure aluminum is soft and lacks strength, but alloyed with small amounts of copper, magnesium, silicon, manganese, or other elements it imparts a variety of useful properties.

Aluminum Magnesium Oxide Description

Aluminum (or Aluminium) (atomic symbol: Al, atomic number: 13) is a Block P, Group 13, Period 3 element with an atomic weight of 26.9815386. It is the third most abundant element in the earth's crust and the most abundant metallic element.  Aluminum's name is derived from alumina, the mineral from which Sir Humphrey Davy attempted to refine it from in 1812.

Although it has only 60% of the electrical conductivity of copper.

It is used in electrical transmission lines because of its light weight. Pure aluminum is soft and lacks strength, but alloyed with small amounts of coppermagnesiumsiliconmanganese, or other elements it imparts a variety of useful properties.

Magnesium: Magnesium (atomic symbol: Mg, atomic number: 12) is a Block S, Group 2, Period 3 element with an atomic mass of 24.3050. The number of electrons in each of Magnesium's shells is  and its electron configuration is [Ne] 3s2. The magnesium atom has a radius of 160 pm and a Van der Waals radius of 173 pm.

Magnesium was discovered by Joseph Black in 1775 and first isolated by Sir Humphrey Davy in 1808. Magnesium is the eighth most abundant element in the earth's crust and the fourth most common element in the earth as a whole. In its elemental form, magnesium has a shiny grey metallic appearance and is an extremely reactive.

It is can be found in minerals such as brucite, carnallite, dolomite, magnesite, olivine and talc. Commercially, magnesium is primarily used in the creation of strong and lightweight aluminum-magnesium alloys, which have numerous advantages in industrial applications. The name "Magnesium" originates from a Greek district in Thessaly called Magnesia.

Aluminum Product Description:

Aluminum (aluminum in American and Canadian English) is a chemical element with the symbol Al and atomic number 13. Aluminum has a density lower than those of other common metals, at approximately one third that of steel. Aluminum has a great affinity towards oxygen, thanks to which it forms a protective layer of oxide on the surface. Aluminum visually resembles silver, both in color and in great ability to reflect light. Aluminum is soft, non-magnetic and ductile.

It has one stable isotope, 27Al; this isotope is very common, making aluminum the twelfth most common element in the Universe. The radioactivity of 26Al is used in radio dating. Chemically, aluminum is a weak metal in the boron group; as it is common for the group, aluminum forms compounds primarily in the +3-oxidation state. The aluminum cation Al3+ is small and highly charged; as such, it is polarizing, and bonds aluminum forms tend towards covalency.

The strong affinity towards oxygen leads to aluminum’s common association with oxygen in nature in the form of oxides; for this reason, aluminum is found on Earth primarily in rocks in the crust, where it is the third most abundant element after oxygen and silicon, rather than in the mantle, and virtually never as the free metal.

The discovery of aluminum was announced in 1825 by Danish physicist Hans Christian Oersted. The first industrial production of aluminum was initiated by French chemist Henri Étienne Sainte-Claire Deville in 1856.

Aluminum became much more available to the public with the Hall–Herold process developed independently by French engineer Paul Herold and American engineer Charles Martin Hall in 1886, and the mass production of aluminum led to its extensive use in industry and everyday life. In World Wars I and II, aluminum was a crucial strategic resource for aviation. In 1954, aluminum became the most produced non-ferrous metal, surpassing copper.

In the 21st century, most aluminum was consumed in transportation, engineering, construction, and packaging in the United States, Western Europe, and Japan. Despite its prevalence in the environment, no living organism is known to use aluminum salts metabolically, but aluminum is well tolerated by plants and animals. Because of the abundance of these salts, the potential for a biological role for them is of continuing interest, and studies continue.

Aluminum Strontium Oxide

Aluminum Strontium Oxide is a highly insoluble thermally stable Aluminum source suitable for glass, optic and ceramic applications.Oxide compounds are not conductive to electricity. However, certain perovskite structured oxides are electronically conductive finding application in the cathode of solid oxide fuel cells and oxygen generation systems.

They are compounds containing at least one oxygen anion and one metallic cation. They are typically insoluble in aqueous solutions (water) and extremely stable making them useful in ceramic structures as simple as producing clay bowls to advanced electronics and in light weight structural components in aerospace and electrochemical applications such as fuel cells in which they exhibit ionic conductivity.

Metal oxide compounds are basic anhydrides and can therefore react with acids and with strong reducing agents in redox reactions. Aluminum Strontium Oxide is also available in forms such as pellets, pieces, powders, sputtering targets, and nanoparticles (from Nanochemazone nanoscale production facilities).

Al2S3 Description :

Sulfides

Inorganic sulfides are ionic compounds containing the sulfide ion S2−. Sulfide compounds can be used in a wide variety of applications including solid-state electrolytes, cathode materials in lithium-ion and thermal batteries, semi-conductors in thermoelectric devices, as part of phosphor compositions, as photovoltaic materials, as pigments, and a variety of other applications. Nanochemazone is a world-leading manufacturer in the production of sulfide compounds with one of the most comprehensive selections of sulfides and extensive sulfide-manufacturing expertise. Most sulfides are manufactured as powders in large batch quantities but certain commercial sulfides are available in large metric-ton quantities. Additionally, Nanochemazone can custom synthesis sulfides that may not be listed in our catalog and can modify sulfides to customer's specifications including producing mixed sulfides, non-stoichiometric compositions, or special purities and particle sizes.

Aluminum Sulfide Applications:

Aluminum sulfide, also known as aluminium sulphide, is a compound of aluminum and sulfur with the formula Al2S3. A colorless or gray solid with an exceptional sensitivity to moisture, aluminum sulfide is not to be confused with the more widely used aluminum sulfate, Al2(SO4)3. Exposed to the atmosphere or other sources of moisture, aluminum sulfide will hydrolize into aluminum hydroxides and hydrogen sulfide gas. This makes careful storage and handling a priority. Many of the most interesting applications of aluminum sulfide remain in the early research phases, with many researchers eager to explore its value in aluminum-sulfur energy story.
  • Energy storage. A subject of research in the production of aluminum-sulfur batteries, a potentially superior alternative to lithium batteries.
  • Like several similar metal sulfides, aluminum sulfide may be of value for its photovoltaic properties at smaller scales.
  • Useful for its reactivity in producing several commercially or academically valuable compounds.
  • Aluminum source. Moderately water and acid soluble source for aluminum.

Description: Nanoparticle research has the capacity to make a significant difference in the global market in the coming years. Researchers have already studied how properties of elements vary at very small particle sizes, and then used these particles to accomplish various functions. With the findings from several studies, researchers can now radically enhance everything from flexible electronics to life-saving medical processes.   Antimony can be found free in nature sometimes; however it is mainly obtained from the ores stibnite (Sb2S3) and valentinite (Sb2O3). Antimony is a Block P, Period 5 element. Antimony is a poor conductor of heat and electricity. It is known to increase the hardness and mechanical strength of lead alloys.   The morphology of antimony nanoparticles is spherical or faceted, and they appear a silvery colour.   Antimony nanoparticles are dangerous for the environment, thus the material should be handled with care. They are harmful if inhaled or swallowed by humans, and are toxic for aquatic life as well. Manufacturing Process Antimony nanoparticles can be manufactured using a facile electrochemical method. Bulk antimony electrode is dispersed under highly cathodic polarization in different media at room temperature without the need for precursor ions or organic capping agents. The as-prepared antimony nanoparticles have to be immediately transferred into Sb–Sb2O3 core–shell nanoparticles during post treatment and characterization as surface oxidation of antimony nanoparticles by oxygen in the air occurs. Application: Anti-friction alloys. Glass. Batteries. Small arms and tracer bullets. Cable sheathing. Paints and ceramic enamels. Flame-proofing compounds. Pottery glazes.   Please email us for the customization. Industrial applications for barium include acting as a "getterer," or unwanted gas remover, for vacuum tubes, and as an additive to steel and cast iron.

Barium is also alloyed with silicon and aluminum as load-bearing alloys. The main commercial source of barium is the mineral barite (BaSO4) it does not occur naturally as a free element . The name barium is derived from the Greek word "barys," meaning heavy.

Iron:

Iron is a Block D, Group 8, Period 4 element with an atomic weight of 55.845. The number of electrons in each of Iron's shells is 2, 8, 14, 2 and its electron configuration is [Ar] 3d6 4s2. The iron atom has a radius of 126 pm and a Van der Waals radius of 194 pm. Iron was discovered by humans before 5000 BC.

In its elemental form, iron has a lustrous grayish metallic appearance. Iron is the fourth most common element in the Earth's crust and the most common element by mass forming the earth as a whole. Iron is rarely found as a free element, since it tends to oxidize easily.

It is usually found in minerals such as magnetite, hematite, goethite, limonite, or siderite. Though pure iron is typically soft, the addition of carbon creates the alloy known as steel, which is significantly stronger.

Tantalum was first discovered by Anders G. Ekeberg in 1802 in Uppsala, Sweden however, it was not until 1844 when Heinrich Rose first recognized it as a distinct element. In its elemental form, tantalum has a grayish blue appearance. Tantalum is found in the minerals tantalite, microlite, wodginite, euxenite, and polycrase.

Due to the close relation of tantalum to niobium in the periodic table, Tantalum's name originates from the Greek word Tantalos meaning Father of Niobe in Greek mythology.

Description

Cadmium Acetylacetonate is a Cadmium source that is soluble in organic solvents as an organometallic compound (also known as metalorganic, organo-inorganic and metallo-organic Acetylacetonate Packaging, Lab Quantitycompounds).

The high purity acetylacetonate anion complexes by bonding each oxygen atom to the metallic cation to form a chelate ring; because of this property, acetylacetonates are commonly used in various catalysts and catalytic reagents for organic synthesis, including the fabrication of various shapes of carbon nanostructures (as demonstrated by a 2013 experiment by researchers at the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden) via the use of chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and laser evaporation techniques.

It is generally immediately available in most volumes. Ultra high purity and high purity forms may be considered. Cadmium Acetylacetonate is one of numerous organo-metallic compounds (also known as metalorganic, organo-inorganic and metallo-organic compounds) sold by Nanochemazone under the trade name nanochemazone Organo-Metallics™ for uses requiring non-aqueous solubility such as recent solar energy and water treatment applications. Similar results can sometimes also be achieved with Nanoparticles and by thin film deposition. Note Nanochemazone additionally supplies many materials as solutions.

The numerous commercial applications for Cadmium include many types of solder, for standard E.M.F. cells, for nickel-cadmium batteries, and as a barrier to control nuclear fission. Nanochemazone produces to many standard grades when applicable, including Mil Spec (military grade); ACS, Reagent and Technical Grade; Food, Agricultural and Pharmaceutical Grade; Optical Grade, USP and EP/BP (European Pharmacopoeia/British Pharmacopoeia) and follows applicable ASTM testing standards. Cadmium was discovered and first isolated by Karl Samuel Leberecht Hermann and Friedrich Stromeyer in 1817. In its elemental form, cadmium has a silvery bluish gray metallic appearance. Cadmium makes up about 0.1 ppm of the earth's crust.

No significant deposits of cadmium containing ores are known, however, it is sometimes found in its metallic form. It is a common impurity in zinc ores and is isolated during the production of zinc.

Cadmium is a key component in battery production and particular pigments and coatings due to its distinct yellow color. Cadmium oxide is used in phosphors for television picture tubes. The name Cadmium originates from the Latin word 'cadmia' and the Greek word 'kadmeia'.

Tin:

Tin is a Block P, Group 14, Period 5 element with an atomic weight of 118.710. The number of electrons in each of tin's shells is 2, 8, 18, 18, 4 and its electron configuration is [Kr] 4d10 5s2 5p2.

The tin atom has a radius of 140.5 pm and a Van der Waals radius of 217 pm.In its elemental form, tin has a silvery-gray metallic appearance. It is malleable, ductile and highly crystalline. Tin has nine stable isotopes and 18 unstable isotopes.

Under 3.72 degrees Kelvin, Tin becomes a superconductor. Applications for tin include soldering, plating, and such alloys as pewter. The first uses of tin can be dated to the Bronze Age around 3000 BC in which tin and copper were combined to make the alloy bronze.

The origin of the word tin comes from the Latin word Stannum which translates to the Anglo-Saxon word tin. For more information on tin, including properties, safety data, research, and Nanochemazone catalog of tin products, visit the Tin element page.

Calcium was discovered and first isolated by Sir Humphrey Davy in 1808.

It is the fifth most abundant element in the earth's crust and can be found in minerals such as dolomite, gypsum, plagioclases, amphiboles, pyroxenes and garnets. In its elemental form, calcium has a dull gray-silver appearance. Calcium is a reactive, soft metal that is a member of the alkaline earth elements.

It frequently serves as an alloying agent for other metals like aluminum and beryllium industrial materials like cement and mortar are composed of calcium compounds like calcium carbonate. It is also an biologically essential substance found in teeth, bones, and shells. The name "calcium" originates from the Latin word "calics," meaning lime.

Cobalt:

Cobalt is a Block D, Group 9, Period 4 element with an atomic weight of 58.933195. The number of electrons in each of cobalt's shells is 2, 8, 15, 2 and its electron configuration is [Ar] 3d7 4s2The cobalt atom has a radius of 125 pm and a Van der Waals radius of 192 pm. Cobalt was first discovered by George Brandt in 1732.

In its elemental form, cobalt has a lustrous gray appearance. Cobalt is found in cobaltite, erythrite, glaucodot and skutterudite ores. Cobalt produces brilliant blue pigments which have been used since ancient times to color paint and glass. Cobalt is a ferromagnetic metal and is used primarily in the production of magnetic and high-strength superalloys. Co-60, a commercially important radioisotope, is useful as a radioactive tracer and gamma ray source.

The origin of the word Cobalt comes from the German word "Kobalt" or "Kobold," which translates as "goblin," "elf" or "evil spirit." For more information on cobalt, including properties, safety data, research, and Nanochemazone catalog of cobalt products, visit the Cobalt element page.

Calcium Copper Titanium Oxide Description

Calcium Copper Titanium Oxide is available as a 99.9 pure (metals basis) powder in batch quantities. This material has attracted considerable interest due to its extremely high dielectric constant (literature values reported between 10,000 and 100,000). CCTO has a cubic structure and no known phase changes down to very low temperatures. An additional advantage is that the material is lead-free. These features make CCTO a very attractive option for applications in microelectronics such as capacitors and memory devices. CCTO's high dielectric constant also enhances the possibility of further miniaturization of components. Nanochemazone uses an in-house proprietary manufacturing process to produce batch quantities of consistently high-purity low micron or a nano-structured powder.

A mass of carbon-coated cobalt nanoparticles was successfully synthesized by chemical vapor deposition of methane over the Co/Al catalyst at 650 °C. The phases found in the as-prepared carbon-coated nanoparticles were fcc-Co. The diameter of these nanoparticles with a 2–10 nm carbon coating shell was in the range of 5–80 nm. However, it is well-known that the Co nanoparticles are suitable for carbon nanotube synthesis, such as Co/Al2O3 and Co/SiO2 catalysts. Here, we speculated that the formation mechanism of carbon-coated cobalt nanoparticles might due to the that the formation of carbon nanotubes was inhibited by the catalyst supporter of Al. Compared with Al2O3 and SiO2, Al possesses a very low melting point (660 °C), very high diffusion coefficient and thermal conductivity, thus the isotropic precipitation of carbon species on the surface of cobalt particles took place, favoring the formation of carbon-coated Co nanoparticles. Cerium Acetylacetonate Description

Cerium Acetylacetonate Hydrate is a Cerium source that is soluble in organic solvents as an organometallic compound (also known as metalorganic, organo-inorganic and metallo-organic Acetylacetonate Packaging, Lab Quantitycompounds). The high purity acetylacetonate anion complexes by bonding each oxygen atom to the metallic cation to form a chelate ring; because of this property, acetylacetonates are commonly used in various catalysts and catalytic reagents for organic synthesis, including.

The fabrication of various shapes of carbon nanostructures (as demonstrated by a 2013 experiment by researchers at the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden) via the use of chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and laser evaporation techniques.

Cerium Acetylacetonate Hydrate is one of numerous organo-metallic compounds (also known as metalorganic, organo-inorganic and Metallo-organic compounds) sold by nanochemazone. Similar results can sometimes also be achieved with Nanoparticles and by thin film deposition. Note nanochemazone additionally supplies many materials as solutions.

Nanochemazone produces to many standard grades when applicable, including Mil Spec (military grade); ACS, Reagent and Technical Grade; Food, Agricultural and Pharmaceutical Grade; Optical Grade, USP and EP/BP (European Pharmacopoeia/British Pharmacopoeia) and follows applicable ASTM testing standards. Typical and custom packaging is available. Additional technical, research and safety (MSDS) information is available as is a Reference Calculator for converting relevant units of measurement..

 Description

Cerium is a Block F, Group 3, Period 6 element with an atomic weight of 140.116. The number of electrons in each of cerium's shells is 2, 8, 18, 19, 9, 2 and its electron configuration is [Xe]4f2 6s2. The cerium atom has a radius of 182.5 pm and a Van der Waals radius of 235 pm. In its elemental form, cerium has a silvery white appearance.

Cerium is the most abundant of the rare earth metals. It is characterized chemically by having two valence states, the +3 cerous and +4 ceric states. The ceric state is the only non-trivalent rare earth ion stable in aqueous solutions. It is, therefore, strongly acidic and moderately toxic. It is also a strong oxidizer.

The cerous state closely resembles the other trivalent rare earths. Cerium is found in the minerals allanite, bastnasite, hydroxylbastnasite, monazite, rhabdophane, synchysite and zircon. Cerium was discovered by Martin Heinrich Klaproth, Jöns Jakob Berzelius, and Wilh elm Hisinger in 1803 and first isolated by Carl Gustaf Mosander in 1839. The element was named after the asteroid Ceres.

Praseodymium is a Block F, Group 3, Period 6 element with an atomic weight of 140.90765. The number of electrons in each of praseodymium's shells is 2, 8, 18, 21, 8, 2 and its electron configuration is [Xe]4f3 6s2. The praseodymium atom has a radius of 182 pm and a Van der Waals radius of 239 pm.

Praseodymium resembles the typical trivalent rare earths, however, it will exhibit a +4 state when stabilized in a zirconia host. Unlike other rare-earth metals, which show antiferromagnetic and / or ferromagnetic ordering at low temperatures, praseodymium is paramagnetic at any temperature above 1 K. Praseodymium is found in the minerals monazite and bastnasite.

Praseodymium was discovered by Carl Auer von Welsbach in 1885. The origin of the element name comes from the Greek words prasios didymos, meaning green twin.

Cobalt Base Alloy Spherical Description

Cobalt is a chemical element with the symbol Co and atomic number 27. Like nickel, cobalt is found in the Earth's crust only in chemically combined form, save for small deposits found in alloys of natural meteoric iron. The free element, produced by reductive smelting, is a hard, lustrous, silver-gray metal.

Cobalt-based blue pigments (cobalt blue) have been used since ancient times for jewelry and paints, and to impart a distinctive blue tint to glass, but the color was later thought to be due to the known metal bismuth. Miners had long used the name kobold ore (German for goblin ore) for some of the blue-pigment-producing minerals; they were so named because they were poor in known metals, and gave poisonous arsenic-containing fumes when smelted. In 1735, such ores were found to be reducible to a new metal (the first discovered since ancient times), and this was ultimately named for the kobold.

Today, some cobalt is produced specifically from one of a number of metallic-lustered ores, such as cobaltite (CoAsS). The element is, however, more usually produced as a by-product of copper and nickel mining. The copper belt in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Zambia yields most of the global cobalt production. World production in 2016 was 116,000 metric tons (114,000 long tons; 128,000 short tons) (according to Natural Resources Canada), and the DRC alone accounted for more than 50%.[4]

Cobalt is primarily used in lithium-ion batteries, and in the manufacture of magnetic, wear-resistant and high-strength alloys. The compounds cobalt silicate and cobalt(II) aluminate (CoAl2O4, cobalt blue) give a distinctive deep blue color to glass, ceramics, inks, paints and varnishes. Cobalt occurs naturally as only one stable isotope, cobalt-59. Cobalt-60 is a commercially important radioisotope, used as a radioactive tracer and for the production of high-energy gamma rays.
