Ytterbium Oxalate Decahydrate Description :

Ytterbium is a chemical element with the symbol Yb and atomic number 70. It is the fourteenth and penultimate element in the lanthanide series, which is the basis of the relative stability of its  oxidation state.

However, like the other lanthanides, its most common oxidation state is, as in its oxide, halides, and other compounds. In aqueous solution, like compounds of other late lanthanides, soluble ytterbium compounds form complexes with nine water molecules.

Because of its closed-shell electron configuration, its density and melting and boiling points differ significantly from those of most other lanthanides. Natural ytterbium is a mixture of seven stable isotopes, which altogether are present at concentrations of 3 parts per million.

The ytterbium concentration is low because it is found only among many other rare earth elements; moreover, it is among the least abundant. Once extracted and prepared, ytterbium is somewhat hazardous as an eye and skin irritant. The metal is a fire and explosion hazard.

Ferrites are iron oxide-based ceramic materials with magnetic properties, useful in many types of electronic devices and building materials.  Yttrium Fluoride Description

Yttrium Fluoride of yttrium are yttrium oxide and yttrium hydroxide, respectively, and they are both white solids which are hardly soluble in water. Among them, yttrium oxide can be prepared by heating yttrium carbonate or yttrium oxalate. Alternatively, the oxychloride can be heated in air to yield the oxide.

Yttrium Fluoride can be precipitated by the reaction of soluble yttrium compounds with sodium hydroxide or ammonia, and can also be obtained by the hydrolysis of yttrium alkoxide. Hydroxy acids and sugars present in the solution will prevent the formation of precipitates due to the formation of stable coordination compounds.

Yttrium Fluoride can be decomposed by heating. Firstly, basic yttrium oxide is formed, and when heating is continued yttrium oxide is obtained. Both yttrium oxide and Yttrium Fluoride are easily soluble in strong acids to form corresponding yttrium salts.

Yttrium Phosphide Description

Yttrium's most important use is in making phosphors which are used in CRT displays and in LEDs. Yttrium is also used in the production of superconductors, electrodes, electrolytes, electronic filters, and lasers. Yttria stabilized zirconium oxide is used in high temperature applications, such as in thermal plasma sprays to protect aerospace high temperature surfaces.

High Purity (99.999%) Yttrium Oxide Powder Crystals of the yttrium-iron-garnet (YIG) variety are essential to microwave communication equipment and yttrium-aluminum-garnet (YAG) crystals are used as laser gain media. High Purity (99.999%) Yttrium (Y) Sputtering TargetYttrium is available as metal and compounds with purities from 99% to 99.999% (ACS grade to ultra-high purity).

Metallic forms include pellets, rod, wire and granules for evaporation source material purposes. Yttrium nanoparticles and nanopowders provide ultra-high surface area.  Yttrium Zirconium Oxide

Yttrium is a Block D, Group 3, Period 5 element with an atomic weight of 88.90585. The number of electrons in each of yttrium's shells is [2, 8, 18, 9, 2] and its electron configuration is [Kr] 4d1 5s2. The yttrium atom has a radius of 180 pm and a Van der Waals radius of 219 pm. Yttrium was discovered by Johann Gadolin in 1794 and first isolated by Carl Gustav Mosander in 1840. In its elemental form, Yttrium has a silvery white metallic appearance. Yttrium has the highest thermodynamic affinity for oxygen of any element. 

Yttrium is not found in nature as a free element and is almost always found combined with the lanthanides in rare earth minerals. While not part of the rare earth series, it resembles the heavy rare earths which are sometimes referred to as the "yttrics" for this reason. Another unique characteristic derives from its ability to form crystals with useful properties. The name yttrium originated from a Swedish village near Vaxholm called Yttbery where it was discovered.

Zirconium:

Zirconium is a Block D, Group 4, Period 5 element with an atomic weight of 91.224. The number of electrons in each of Zirconium's shells is 2, 8, 18, 10, 2 and its electron configuration is [Kr] 4d2 5s2. The zirconium atom has a radius of 160 pm and a Van der Waals radius of 186 pm.

Zirconium was discovered by Martin Heinrich Klaproth in 1789 and first isolated by Jöns Jakob Berzelius in 1824. In its elemental form, zirconium has a silvery white appearance that is similar to titanium.

Zirconium's principal mineral is zircon (zirconium silicate). Zirconium is commercially produced as a byproduct of titanium and tin mining and has many applications as a opacifier and a refractory material. It is not found in nature as a free element.

The name of zirconium comes from the mineral zircon, the most important source of zirconium, and from the Persian wordzargun, meaning gold-like.

Zensor screen printed electrodes (SPEs) feature a carbon working electrode (central circle), carbon auxiliary (outer annular crescent), and Ag/AgCl pellet reference electrode. They can be used as low-cost disposable electrodes in aqueous solutions of moderate pH. Disposable SPEs can be used as an alternative to expensive glassy carbon or platinum electrodes for teaching experiments, or routine analyses, where a clean reproducible surface would otherwise require time-consuming electrode polishing.

Relatively large tabs at the top of the SPE enable electrical contact with standard miniature alligator clips (no special cables required).

If using solutions that contain species that might react with the Ag/AgCl pellet reference (sulfide, iodide, cyanide, ammonia, etc.) then the Zensor SE100 SPE working electrode is recommended using a conventional reference and auxiliary electrodes, with an intervening salt bridge in cases of serious interference.

Not suitable for use with organic solvents, or concentrated acidic or basic aqueous solutions.

It has been reported that zinc and phosphorus emissions may damage catalytic converters and standard formulations of lubricating oils for gasoline engines now have reduced amounts of the additive, though diesel engine oils remain at higher levels.

Although it occurs naturally as the mineral zincite, most zinc oxide is produced synthetically. ZnO is a wide-bandgap semiconductor of the semiconductor group.

The native doping of the semiconductor due to oxygen vacancies or zinc interstitials is n-type. Other favorable properties include good transparency, high electron mobility, wide bandgap, and strong room-temperature luminescence. Those properties are valuable in emerging applications for transparent electrodes in liquid crystal displays, energy-saving or heat-protecting windows, and electronics as thin-film transistors and light-emitting diodes

Physical Properties of Zinc Oxide Micro Powder

Zinc oxide crystallizes in two main forms, hexagonal wurtzite and cubic zincblende. The wurtzite structure is most stable at ambient conditions and thus most common. The zincblende form can be stabilized by growing on substrates with a cubic lattice structure. In both cases, the zinc and oxide centers are tetrahedral, the most characteristic geometry for Zn. It converts to the rocksalt motif at relatively high pressures about 10 GPa. T

Zinc Sulphide Powder Description

Zinc sulfide Powder is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula of ZnS. This is the main form of zinc found in nature, where it mainly occurs as the mineral sphalerite. Although this mineral is usually black because of various impurities, the pure material is white, and it is widely used as a pigment. In its dense synthetic form, zinc sulfide can be transparent, and it is used as a window for visible optics and infrared optics.

Both sphalerite and wurtzite are intrinsic, wide-bandgap semiconductors. These are prototypical semiconductors, and they adopt structures related to many of the other semiconductors, such as gallium arsenide. The cubic form of ZnS has a bandgap of about electron volts at 300 kelvins, but the hexagonal form has a bandgap of about electron volts.

ZnS can be doped as either an n-type semiconductor or a p-type semiconductor. Fine ZnS powder is an efficient photocatalyst, which produces hydrogen gas from water upon illumination. Sulfur vacancies can be introduced in ZnS during its synthesis; this gradually turns the white-yellowish ZnS into a brown powder, and boosts the photocatalytic activity through enhanced light absorption Zinc sulfidic, with the addition of few ppm of suitable activator, exhibits strong phosphorescence, and is currently used in many applications, from cathode ray tubes through X-ray screens to glow in the dark products. When silver is used as an activator, the resulting color is bright blue, with a maximum at 450 nanometres.

Using manganese yields an orange-red color at around 590 nanometres. Copper gives a long-time glow, and it has the familiar greenish glow-in-the-dark. Copper-doped zinc sulfidic is used also in electroluminescent panels. It also exhibits phosphorescence due to impurities on illumination with blue or ultraviolet light.

Zirconium Carbide Powder Description:

Like most carbides of refractory metals, zirconium carbide is sub-stoichiometric, i.e., it contains carbon vacancies. At carbon contents higher than approximately ZrC0.98 the material contains free carbon. ZrC reacts with water and acids and is pyrophoric. It becomes readily oxidized in the air when exposed to elevated temperatures. It shows a high amount of corrosion resistance property and contains carbon vacancies. It reacts with water as well as acids. Application: 1.Used as an abrasive, in metal cladding, in cermet, incandescent filaments, and cutting tools. 2. Zirconium Diboride Nano Powder Description

Zirconium diboride Nano Powder (ZrB2) is a highly covalent refractory ceramic material with a hexagonal crystal structure. ZrB2 is an ultra-high temperature ceramic with a melting point of 3246 °C. This along with its relatively low density of ~6.09 g/cm3 (measured density may be higher due to hafnium impurities) and good high-temperature strength makes it a candidate for high-temperature aerospace applications such as hypersonic flight or rocket propulsion systems.

It is an unusual ceramic, having relatively high thermal and electrical conductivities, properties it shares with isostructural titanium diboride and hafnium diboride. ZrB2 parts are usually hot pressed (pressure applied to the heated powder) and then machined to shape.

Sintering of ZrB2 is hindered by the material's covalent nature and presence of surface oxides which increase grain coarsening before densification during sintering. Pressureless sintering of ZrB2 is possible with sintering additives such as boron carbide and carbon which react with the surface oxides to increase the driving force for sintering but mechanical properties are degraded compared to hot-pressed he extremely rapid heating rates can result in incomplete reactions between Zr and B, the formation of stable oxides of Zr, and the retention of porosity.

Stoichiometric reactions have also been carried out by reaction of attrition milled wearing materials by grinding Zr and B powder and then hot pressing at 600 °C for 6 h, and nanoscale particles have been obtained by reacting attrition milled Zr and B precursor crystallites 10 nm in size.

The reduction of ZrO2 and HfO2 to their respective diborides can also be achieved via metallothermic reduction. Inexpensive precursor materials are used and reacted according to the reaction.

Brief Description of Zirconium Hydride ZrH2:

Zirconium hydride is created by combining refined zirconium with hydrogen. Like titanium, solid zirconium dissolves hydrogen quite readily. The density of zirconium hydride varies based the hydrogen and ranges between 5.56 and 6.52 g cm−3. They behave as usual metals in terms of electrical conductivity and magnetic properties (paramagnetic, unless contaminated with ferromagnetic impurities). Their structure and composition are stable at ambient conditions. Even in the narrow range of concentrations which make up zirconium hydride, mixtures of hydrogen and zirconium can form a number of different structures, with very different properties.
