 Tantalum Titanium Oxide Description

Tantalum is a Block D, Group 5, Period 6 element with an atomic weight of 180.94788. The number of electrons in each of tantalum's shells is [2, 8, 18, 32, 11, 2] and its electron configuration is [Xe] 4f14 5d3 6s2. The tantalum atom has a radius of 146 pm and a Van der Waals radius of 217 pm. 

Tantalum was first discovered by Anders G. Ekeberg in 1802 in Uppsala, Sweden however, it was not until 1844 when Heinrich Rose first recognized it as a distinct element. In its elemental form, tantalum has a grayish blue appearance.

Tantalum is found in the minerals tantalite, microlite, wodginite, euxenite, and polycrase. Due to the close relation of tantalum to niobium in the periodic table, Tantalum's name originates from the Greek word Tantalos meaning Father of Niobe in Greek mythology.

Titanium:

Titanium is a Block D, Group 4, Period 4 element with an atomic weight of 47.867. The number of electrons in each of Titanium's shells is [2, 8, 10, 2] and its electron configuration is [Ar] 3d2 4s2. The titanium atom has a radius of 147 pm and a Van der Waals radius of 187 pm. Titanium was discovered by William Gregor in 1791 and first isolated by Jöns Jakob Berzelius in 1825. In its elemental form, titanium has a silvery grey-white metallic appearance.

Titanium's properties are chemically and physically similar to zirconium, both of which have the same number of valence electrons and are in the same group in the periodic table. Titanium has five naturally occurring isotopes: 46Ti through 50Ti, with 48Ti being the most abundant (73.8%).

Titanium is found in igneous rocks and the sediments derived from them. It is named after the word Titanos, which is Greek for Titans.

The zirconium atom has a radius of 160 pm and a Van der Waals radius of 186 pm. Zirconium was discovered by Martin Heinrich Klaproth in 1789 and first isolated by Jöns Jakob Berzelius in 1824. In its elemental form, zirconium has a silvery white appearance that is similar to titanium.

Zirconium's principal mineral is zircon (zirconium silicate). Zirconium is commercially produced as a byproduct of titanium and tin mining and has many applications as a opacifier and a refractory material. It is not found in nature as a free element.

Terbium Fluoride Description

Terbium Fluoride is a water-insoluble Terbium source for use in oxygen-sensitive applications, such as metal production. Fluoride compounds have diverse applications in current technologies and science, from oil refining and etching to synthetic organic chemistry and the manufacture of pharmaceuticals. Fluorides are also commonly used to alloy metals and for optical deposition. Terbium is primarily used in phosphors, particularly in fluorescent lamps, and as the high-intensity green emitter used in projection televisions.

Terbium Fluoride is generally immediately available in most volumes. Ultra-high purity and high purity compositions improve both optical quality and usefulness as scientific standards. Nanoscale elemental powders and suspensions, as alternative high surface area forms, may be considered.

Terbium Nitrate Description

Terbium Nitrate have specialized uses in ceramics, glass, phosphors, lasers, and also is the important dopant for fibre amplifiers. Terbium Nitrate is a highly water soluble crystalline Terbium source for uses compatible with nitrates and lower (acidic) pH. In its elemental form, vanadium has a bluish-silver appearance. 

It is a hard, ductile transition metal that is primarily used as a steel additive and in alloys such as Titanium-6AL-4V, which is composed of titanium, aluminum, and vanadium and is the most common titanium alloy commercially produced. Vanadium is found in fossil fuel deposits and 65 different minerals. Vanadium is not found free in nature; however, once isolated it forms an oxide layer that stabilizes the free metal against further oxidation. Vanadium was named after the word "Vanadis" meaning goddess of beauty in Scandinavian mythology.

Thulium Fluoride is a water insoluble Thulium source for use in oxygen-sensitive applications, such as metal production. Fluoride compounds have diverse applications in current technologies and science, from oil refining and etching to synthetic organic chemistry and the manufacture of pharmaceuticals. Thulium emits blue upon excitation in flat panel screens and under X-ray bombardment emits both the 375 nm (ultra violet) and 465 (visible blue) wave lengths giving it useful applications in low radiation detection for detection badges and similar uses. About MXenes: 

MXenes are a family of two-dimensional (2D) inorganic compounds with the general formula of Mn+1XnTx, where M is an early transition metal, X is carbon and/or nitrogen, and T is a functional group on the surface of an MXene (typically O, OH and F) (M. Naguib, et al. Adv.

Mater., 2014, 26, 992). MXenes have the high metallic conductivity of transition metal carbides and are (unlike other 2D materials like graphene) hydrophilic because of their hydroxyl- and oxygen-terminated surfaces.

MXenes were first discovered in 2011 at Drexel University, as a result of selectively etching the A layer out of bulk ternary transition metal carbides and nitrides, known as MAX phases, which yields multilayered MXenes.

To increase surface area and accessibility of its surface, multilayered MXenes typically undergo further processing to yield solutions of delaminated MXenes.

Due to their hydrophilicity, MXenes can be processed in aqueous and polar organic solvents to form stable colloidal solutions that can be filtered to form freestanding films and spray-coated to form transparent conductive coatings.

This provides a greater potential application for this family of materials. The first MXene discovered was Ti3C2 and it was initially investigated for its electrochemical properties in batteries and supercapacitors (B. Anasori, et al.

Nature Reviews Materials, 2017, 2, 16098). In the past several years, however, over two dozen MXenes have been discovered along with dozens of other applications.

Titanium Alloy Spherical Description

Titanium alloys are alloys that contain a mixture of titanium and other chemical elements. Such alloys have very high tensile strength and toughness (even at extreme temperatures). They are light in weight, have extraordinary corrosion resistance and the ability to withstand extreme temperatures.

However, the high cost of both raw materials and processing limit their use to military applications, aircraft, spacecraft, bicycles, medical devices, jewelry, highly stressed components such as connecting rods on expensive sports cars and some premium sports equipment and consumer electronics.

Titanium aluminide, TiAl,  is an intermetallic chemical compound. It is lightweight and resistant to oxidation and heat. However, it suffers from low ductility. The development of TiAl based alloys began about 1970; however, the alloys have only been used in these applications since about 2000. Titanium Aluminum Alloy Spherical Description

Aluminium alloys (or aluminum alloys; see spelling differences) are alloys in which aluminium (Al) is the predominant metal. The typical alloying elements are copper, magnesium, manganese, silicon, tin and zinc. There are two principal classifications, namely casting alloys and wrought alloys, both of which are further subdivided into the categories heat-treatable and non-heat-treatable. About 85% of aluminium is used for wrought products, for example rolled plate, foils and extrusions.

Cast aluminium alloys yield cost-effective products due to the low melting point, although they generally have lower tensile strengths than wrought alloys. The most important cast aluminium alloy system is Al–Si, where the high levels of silicon (4.0–13%) contribute to give good casting characteristics. Aluminium alloys are widely used in engineering structures and components where light weight or corrosion resistance is required.

Alloys composed mostly of aluminium have been very important in aerospace manufacturing since the introduction of metal-skinned aircraft. Aluminium-magnesium alloys are both lighter than other aluminium alloys and much less flammable than other alloys that contain a very high percentage of magnesium. Aluminium alloy surfaces will develop a white, protective layer of aluminium oxide if left unprotected by anodizing and/or correct painting procedures.

In a wet environment, galvanic corrosion can occur when an aluminium alloy is placed in electrical contact with other metals with more positive corrosion potentials than aluminium, and an electrolyte is present that allows ion exchange. Referred to as dissimilar-metal corrosion, this process can occur as exfoliation or as intergranular corrosion.

Aluminium alloys can be improperly heat treated. This causes internal element separation, and the metal then corrodes from the inside out.
